Disney is closing Zemeckis’ Motion Capture Studio

Robert Zemeckis’s ImageMovers Digital studio announced that Disney will be closing them today. According to The L.A. Times, Disney announced it would shut down the motion-capture studio and lay off around 450 workers.
ImageMovers is most known for such digital productions as A Christmas Carol, The Polar Express, and Beowulf. ImageMovers Digital has “Mars Needs Moms”, in the works, it is still on track to its 2011 release date. Additionally, Zemeckis is creating a 3-D version of the Beatles’ Yellow Submarine, which will also be made despite the closing of the studio.
